Some Tangled Cards

I've recently become obsessed with making small cards using Zentangle and Dreamweaver stencils.  I just lay the stencil on the card and outline it using a fine point gel pen.  The stencil images give a perfect canvas for Zentangling.

Zen Geese

For the Zen Geese I used Dreamweaver stencil LG 687 Geese and Craftwork Cards Candi in Damask Earl Grey.  The stamp is from Peddler's Pack.

Zen Cats

For the Zen Cats I used Dreamweaver stencil LM 266 Cat Watch, and Magenta stamp "Best Friends" 07.537.F, along with a scrap of patterned paper.

Zen Kimono

For the Zen Kimono, I used Dreamweaver stencil LM 268 Kimono Mini.  The stamp is from Impression Obsession C8727, Hanging Out.  I added a border with a scrap of Washi paper.

Zen Hibiscus

This card was fun to make.  I used Dreamweaver stencil LG 678, and applied Versamark through the openings in the stencil.  I added Perfect Pearls in green and blue with a dry brush, just rubbing the powder over the Versamark.  In real life, this gives a beautiful shine.  I then Zentangled over the top of the Perfect Pearls.  It's a good idea to use an old pen with this method, because if I pressed too hard, I found I had to clean off my pen nib.  The stamp is from Impression Obsession B13102.

Zen Umbrella

With Zen Umbrella I used two Dreamweaver stencils:  LG 737 Umbrella and LJ 905 Rain.  After tangling on the umbrella, I turned the card over onto the Rain stencil on a lightpad and hand embossed the raindrops.  I love the effect!  The stamp is from Magenta 07.655.G

Zen Summer

For Zen Summer, I wanted the background to have the effect of water, so I used alcohol inks in Stream, Citrus and Silver on glossy white cardstock.   I used the Dreamweaver stencil LG 680 Surfboards on watercolor paper, and painted them with Silks Acrylic Glazes in Raspberry Wine, Key Lime, and Moonbeams.  I cut them out and popped them up on the card with dimensional foam.  I sprinkled enamel dots from My Mind's Eye "Handsome" collection.  My husband thinks the surfboard on the right looks like an ear of corn!  (It really does, haha!)  The stamp is from Impression Obsession C3779.

Zen Elephants
by Dianne Johnson

This is the last one for now:  I used the very cute Dreamweaver stencil LL 383 Elephants.  The stamp is  "Thanks for Being There" from Magenta 07.655.G.

My son wants me to Zentangle on the chain guard of his bike!  I'm very excited to do that.  I'll post pics of it when it's done.

Showcasing a great Magenta stamp

For my first post I have a card using a beautiful Magenta stamp

By Dianne Johnson
I turned the stamp on its side and stamped in Versamark.  I then embossed it in gold powder at the bottom, and white at the top.  I colored the flowers and leaves with Tombow markers and applied a wet brush for a watercolor effect.  Last I flicked some Artquest palatte mica watercolor.  The sentiment is also from Magenta.
