Magenta Blog Hop Day 2

Welcome to a week of inspiration and creativity with the Magenta Design Team! We are excited to share with you our latest collection and of course our artists are here to share their techniques with you, just hop to their blogs to learn more about their creations.

In my project today, I used the Zen Doodle stamp that I designed for Magenta, Doodle Ornaments (44.013.Q).

I love this stamp, and wanted to show that it can be used in more than one way.  I chose a 3" Art Square by Inchie Arts in cream color, and laid down ink using the acrylic block stamping technique.  For a tutorial of this technique, please click here.  When using this technique with Art Squares, use less water while spraying your acrylic block before stamping.

Here's my card.  The Art Square was stamped with a 2" x 2" Tim Holtz acrylic block that I inked with Aged Mahogany and Shabby Shutters Distress Inks.  I spritzed the block with water mixed with Perfect Pearls Pearl powder before stamping.  Using a sponge dauber, the edge of the Art Square was inked with Aged Mahogany Distress Ink.

Once the Art Square was completely dry, I inked the single, right hand ornament on the stamp with Versamark, and stamped it over the Distress ink background.  I then embossed the image with gold embossing powder from Judikins.  I made the base card out of Stardream Opal, 5" x 5" square, and cut notches into each side to hold the twine.

Two holes were punched in the upper center of the Art Square, and after I wound some wine colored fuzzy twine around the card, I pulled the ends through the holes in the square and tied a bow.  I had put foam tape on the back of the Art Square, and pulled the release paper off before I stuck it down.  The sentiment was stamped with Versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder.
