Magenta Super Saturday - One Design, Two Different Cards

Hi! I'm over at the Magenta blog again today, and you can see that post here.

I needed to make birthday cards for two very different people. Since we have a new grandbaby in the house, I don't have a lot of time to make cards, but the new Magenta release makes it so easy. If you have not seen the new stamps and stencils from Magenta, you can view the collection here. I chose a new stamp designed by Nathalie for these cards.

This first card is for my daughter, and she loves color. I started this card by placing a white panel into my stamp platform. The panel is cut to 5" x 3.75" with a stitched border, using the Lawn Fawn die LF768 Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables.

On top of the white panel, I placed a scrap of watercolor cardstock that I had worked with Nuance. I die-cut the square using the Die-namics MFT-860 Inside Outside Stitched Squares. This left a stitched edge on the scrap, and also on the panel I took it from.

These are the panels I cut the squares from. I can use these on other cards. I didn't use the square cut from the middle one this time, because I used a larger square die from the set, and the piece was too big for the stamp I chose. It will be fine for another project.

I stamped the square piece and the area surrounding the square with Versamark ink. I embossed the image on the square with JudiKins White Diamond embossing powder which gives such a beautiful sparkle in real life. Leaving the white panel in the platform, I stamped it again with Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed it in JudiKins Clear Detail embossing powder. I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment with black and embossed in clear also.

I matched the square up with the image beneath it and adhered it carefully with Be Creative tape, which has a very strong hold. I matted the panel with Red Malmero Pearl cardstock, and adhered it to a base card of110#  Neenah Solar White.

The card for my friend has the same design, but a very different appearance. My friend likes the black and white cards I make for her, so this one would be no different. I made it the same way, but the stamp was rotated differently, and I actually liked it in this direction better.

Distress Oxide Glaze Technique: Thanks!

This is my last post for now using the Distress Oxide Glaze technique, although I'm sure I will use this technique a lot more going forward. These backgrounds are so easy and fun to make, and once you have some in your stash, it's easy to make a card in a hurry. If you have not seen my tutorial on this technique, you can see it here. You can also see examples of cards you can make with these backgrounds here (Toward the bottom of this post is what is possibly my favorite card of the bunch.), here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. I know, it's a lot, I get obsessed with a technique and have a hard time letting it go.

This one is probably my favorite of the die-cut series and I think it was the easiest to make. I didn't even stamp anything on it!

I die cut the white panel from Core-dinations 80# White Canvas cardstock using the largest of the Lawn Fawn LF-768 Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables. The square was cut out of the top center of this panel using the MFT-860 Die-Namics Inside/Outside Square Layers.

The Distress Oxide glazed panel was made previously, and the inks used are listed below. I cut the panel using the MFT-768 Die-Namics Blueprints 13 die set, which cuts a rectangle 5.25" x 4".

The flower that is draped across the square opening is from Memory Box 98333 Honeyblossom Sprig. This is one of my favorite Memory Box dies, and it is still in production.

The "Thanks" sentiment was cut from another piece of Oxide glazed panel that had similar colors, using an Impression Obsession die DIE258-K.

The entire panel was adhered to a base card of Neenah Solar White 110# cardstock, and I glued down some crystal iridescent sequins and put a little Stickles in the center of each sequin.

I hoped you liked this very long sequence of cards using the Distress Oxide glaze technique! My next post will be my April Christmas tags.
